Galaxy M56 Becomes First M-Series Phone to Receive One UI 8.5

Samsung has started expanding One UI 8.5 to its Galaxy M-series lineup. The Galaxy M56 is now receiving the stable update in India, with others likely to follow soon. The company should also add Galaxy F models to the party in the coming days.

The update is rolling out with firmware version M566BXXU5CZE2 and appears to be arriving in phases across the country. Since this is a major One UI upgrade rather than a regular security patch, the download package is pretty large, weighing in at 2.2GB. The Galaxy M56 is also getting the May 2026 security patch with this release.
However, this update is primarily about One UI 8.5. It brings a range of refinements focused on smoother performance, better responsiveness, and improved battery optimization. Samsung has improved system animations, polished interface elements, and enhanced multitasking behavior throughout the software. You can also find a bunch of new features across various apps.
The Korean firm has already completed One UI 8.5 rollouts for most recent Galaxy S, foldable, and premium A-series devices. The company is now gradually shifting focus toward its more affordable lineups, including the Galaxy M series. The update should expand to the Galaxy M lineup soon, while Samsung will gradually cover the remaining eligible models across its portfolio.
As usual, the rollout may vary depending on region, but the One UI 8.5 update may reach everyone by the end of July. To check for new software releases on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the firmware is not available immediately, users may need to wait a few more days as Samsung gradually expands the rollout to more devices across the country.
