One UI 7 Overhauls Galaxy AI Menu for Simpler Navigation and Clarity

by | Oct 4, 2024 | Galaxy AI, News, One UI

Samsung’s One UI 7 update will introduce significant changes to the Galaxy AI menu in Settings. The company has renamed menu items to clarify which apps specific AI features apply to. It has also consolidated several key options to simplify the overall experience.

Galaxy AI settings get a major overhaul in One UI 7

With One UI 6.1.1, Samsung introduced a dedicated Galaxy AI menu in Settings. It houses all the AI features supported on your Galaxy phone. The company provides a detailed description of each AI tool and allows users to individually enable or disable them. With One UI 7, these menu items have been simplified to make it easier for the average user to quickly identify and understand the features they’re looking at.

For example, Chat Assist helps Galaxy users translate, compose, rewrite messages, and correct grammatical errors. However, in One UI 6.1.1, it wasn’t clear that it functions through Samsung Keyboard. One UI 7 clarifies this by renaming Chat Assist to Samsung Keyboard, signifying that AI features are tied to the keyboard app. The same goes for Note Assist, now called Samsung Notes in the Galaxy AI menu.

The new One UI version simply lists the apps and details the AI features available within them. Transcript Assist gets a similar name change to Voice Recorder and Browsing Assist to Samsung Internet. These changes make it easier for Galaxy users to understand the AI tools they have access to. One UI 7 should also bring several new AI features to Samsung phones, though we didn’t spot anything on the demo device at SDC.

Samsung plans to launch One UI 7 beta later this year, likely in December. It’ll be a short beta program with a stable release scheduled for January. The Android 15-based update will run out of the box in Galaxy S25 phones. If you are excited about the new experiences and plan to buy Samsung’s next flagship, check out our mystery box program.
