Google is slowly redesigning Gemini across platforms, and now, Wear OS might be next. Honestly, this was kind of expected. Right now, Gemini doesn’t always feel consistent across devices. The interface on Galaxy Watches is a bit different from Galaxy smartphones. That might finally change.

Gemini on Galaxy Watches is catching up visually, with glowing effects

A new APK teardown from Android Authority of the Gemini app v1.31.56.902760379 reveals a retail demo video that Gemini on Wear OS could soon receive a visual refresh, bringing it closer to the modern design language Google is pushing across its apps.

While Google has already refreshed Gemini’s look and Android, including glowing effects around the phone’s screen edges and more expressive UI, Wear OS still feels a bit behind. But not anymore.

The teardown reveals that Google is working on a more animated and colorful interface, with visual feedback that reacts to your voice and interactions. Instead of the old boring UI, you will get moving color effects while speaking and a UI that feels more “alive”. This update also brings more refined weather cards and updated iconography. You can see below the old vs. the new UI for Gemini on Wear OS.

Interestingly, this update doesn’t seem to add new functionality. Instead, Google is focusing on how Gemini feels to use. That includes better visual feedback, smoother animations, and a more modern, expressive design. And that actually matters more than it sounds, especially on a smartwatch, where UI clarity and responsiveness are everything.

This fits Google’s bigger design shift

Google has been moving toward a more expressive UI across Android. We’ve already seen Material You theming, more dynamic colors, and UI elements that react to user input. Now, Gemini seems to be following the same direction across phones and soon, wearables.

As always with APK teardowns, don’t expect it just yet. Nothing is officially confirmed, there’s no release timeline, and features could still change or disappear. But based on how often these visual updates show up in early builds, this one feels pretty much likely to happen, if we also count the retail demo video from the teardown.
