Samsung Prepares New Galaxy Books with Android 17, One UI 9

Aluminium OS is Google’s new Android-based platform for laptops. Through this project, the company aims to bring advanced AI capabilities to your PCs, something Chrome OS falls short at. The Android maker recently said that Aluminium OS is on track to debut later this year, and Samsung appears to be gearing up for it.
According to new information shared by SamMobile, Samsung is developing Galaxy Book devices that will run the new platform. In fact, the publication specifies that the upcoming PCs will ship with Android 17, offering Samsung’s One UI 9 custom interface on top. This would be the first time the company brings its smartphone-style software experience to full-fledged laptops.
The move could unify Samsung’s ecosystem even further. One UI already powers Galaxy smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and even TVs. Extending it to laptops would create a more consistent experience across all devices, something the Korean giant has been steadily working toward.
The report suggests this won’t be a one-off experiment for Samsung. The company appears fully invested in Android-based Galaxy Book laptops. It is reportedly preparing multiple products across different price segments: Entry-level, mid-range, and flagship. The high-end model is expected to focus heavily on portability and aesthetics, alongside cutting-edge AI features.
Speaking of which, Samsung may bring AI capabilities already seen on Galaxy smartphones and tablets to its laptops. More details should surface in the coming months. Perhaps after Google officially announces Aluminium OS, which could happen at Google I/O 2026 next month.
