Samsung Rolls Out New One UI 8.5 Beta Update for Galaxy A54

Samsung may begin the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S25 series at any time now. Meanwhile, beta testing continues for other devices. The latest device to receive attention is the Galaxy A54, which picks up its second beta update. The mid-range smartphone may get the stable version in late May.

Galaxy A54 gets One UI 8.5 Beta 2 with several bug fixes

One UI 8.5 builds on Samsung’s existing software experience with a focus on refinement and intelligence rather than drastic redesigns. The update introduces subtle visual enhancements with improved consistency, new AI-powered features and smarter system suggestions, better multitasking, and fluid animations. Samsung has also updated several stock apps with cleaner and more intuitive interfaces.

The new version debuted with the Galaxy S26 series, and Samsung is now testing it for a bunch of other models. In fact, the company is expected to roll out the stable version for the S25 lineup as early as this week, having already received ten beta builds since December last year.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A54, which joined the One UI 8.5 beta program earlier this month, is now getting a new beta update with firmware version ZZD9 (h/t X/@A546E_CAU). As usual, the second beta build focuses primarily on bug fixes and performance improvements, rather than introducing new features. The official changelog mentions fixes for issues related to Bluetooth, Camera, Quick panel, and Direct Voicemail.

This is typical for mid-cycle beta updates, where Samsung shifts from feature rollout to polishing the overall experience. The company may roll out a few more One UI 8.5 beta builds for the Galaxy A54 before pushing the final version.
