Samsung never misses an opportunity to remind users that Galaxy AI may not be free forever. It has always signaled that some AI features may become paid services in the future. The firm reiterated that during the Galaxy S24 FE and Tab S10 launch. Galaxy AI will remain free until the end of 2025, though.
Samsung reminds users that Galaxy AI may not be free forever
Galaxy AI debuted with Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series in early 2024. While the company didn’t say it plans to make the AI features a paid service on the stage, its press releases suggested that. “Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025,” it stated in the footnotes. Since then, we have seen this phrase several times in Samsung’s press releases about Galaxy AI.
The company reminded users about it during the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 launch, and recently during the Galaxy S24 FE and Tab S10 launch. “Fees may apply to certain AI features at the end of 2025,” Samsung said. While it didn’t specify which feature would go behind a paywall, the firm has made it clear that Galaxy AI would require a paid subscription at some point in the future.
Earlier this year, Samsung considered introducing a subscription service for its Health app, though this has not come to fruition. As the head of Samsung Health remarked in an interview with CNBC, “If you’re going to really make me pay for something, you better give me something that’s more end to end, that’s more comprehensive.” We hope Samsung applies this to Galaxy AI too.
It’s worth noting that several Galaxy AI features are powered by third-party AI services, including Google. Maybe Samsung is having to respond to their demands and introduce a subscription service to those AI features. The company may not share more details until closer to the official rollout of a Galaxy AI paywall in late 2025 or early 2026. We will keep you posted with all the latest information.
