Next One UI 8.5 Beta Could Bring AirDrop Support to Galaxy S25, S24

Samsung is gearing up for its next One UI 8.5 beta release for several Galaxy devices. A fresh leak suggests the update could bring AirDrop support to the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series. This feature recently debuted on the Galaxy S26 lineup.

Last month, Samsung brought support for Quick Share-to-AirDrop file transfers to its newly released Galaxy S26 series through a software update. The company also confirmed that this feature will expand to additional devices at a later date. It looks like the firm is now moving with that plan.

According to the latest leak, AirDrop support has been spotted in an internal One UI 8.5 beta build version ZZD1. This build appeared for both the Galaxy S25 series and the S24 Ultra. Simply put, Samsung is testing the new file-sharing capability on older flagship devices, with the next wave of beta updates expected to pack it.

Once the feature lands on your Galaxy device, you will see an option called “Share with Apple devices” within Quick Share. It should be enabled by default, so you may not need to do anything manually unless Samsung requests additional updates. The company asked Galaxy S26 users to update Google Play Services.

Now, when you share a file from your Galaxy smartphone to Apple devices, you will see nearby iPhones appear in the sharing list. You can then select the iPhone, send the file, and the recipient will see a prompt to accept the transfer.

As of now, Samsung has not shared when it will push the next batch of One UI 8.5 beta updates. However, there is a chance we could see it arrive sometime this month. For the Galaxy S25 lineup, it would be the eighth beta update, while for the Galaxy S24 series, it would be the second beta. We’ll let you know when the company kicks off the next beta wave.
