Expect a Longer Wait as Samsung Delays One UI 6 Watch Update

At this point, it seems that Samsung’s software team has hit a rough patch. Multiple major updates have faced unexpected delays this year. The company took longer than usual to roll out One UI 6.1.1 and is still not ready to begin One UI 7.0 beta. Worse yet, its One UI 6 Watch update, which entered the beta phase in early June, is nowhere to be seen. It is currently targeting an October-November timeline for its rollout.

Samsung says it isn’t ready to roll out the One UI 6 Watch update

One UI 6 Watch is the latest version of Samsung’s Wear OS-based smartwatch platform. The new version debuted with the Galaxy Watchy 7 and Watch Ultra in July. However, the company has been testing the update for older models through a beta program in the US and South Korea since June. It has already released six beta updates for the Galaxy Watch 6 series and five for the Watch 5 and Watch 4.

Recent beta builds have been all about bug fixes and stability improvements, hinting at a nearing stable release. Samsung also updated Galaxy Wearable plugins for older watches and introduced Energy Score to their watch faces. It’s a One UI 6 Watch feature, so these developments led users to believe they won’t have to wait much longer for the big feature update. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, as the update is still quite far.

A Samsung Community moderator says the company has some “unfinished businesses” to resolve before a stable One UI 6 Watch release. They didn’t specify the issues but confirmed that the update won’t arrive anytime soon. “It is difficult for us to provide the exact date,” the moderator said. “We are targeting for Oct-Nov” release. It appears we are in for a long delay, potentially pushing One UI 6 Watch to November.

All of these delays have left Galaxy users wondering if something is amiss behind the scenes. Could there be deeper issues within Samsung’s development team, or is the company simply prioritizing polish over punctuality? Industry insiders say the firm delayed the One UI 7.0 beta to ensure a smooth experience from day one, but it has been over three months since the One UI 6 Watch beta began. Only Samsung can tell what’s going on.
