Galaxy S25 Ultra Flexes its Power w/ Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 on Geekbench

Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Ultra recently surfaced on Geekbench with impressive scores. Powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the device recorded top-tier CPU benchmarks, hinting at a significant leap in everyday performance. It arrives in early 2025 and is already shaping up to be a contender for the best flagship smartphone of the year.

Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Geekbench scores promise a huge performance boost

The US version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra (model number SM-S938U) appeared on Geekbench running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The device achieved a single-core score of 3,069 and a multi-core score of 9,080. While not as high as the OnePlus 13’s scores of 3,236 and 10,049 with the same chipset, these are still impressive numbers for a phone launching four months later.

The device used for this Geekbench test is likely an early pre-production unit running an internal One UI build based on Android 15. Further hardware and software optimizations should help it improve its CPU performance. The current scores are already comparable with the iPhone 16 lineup. The Galaxy S25 Ultra should only improve from here, so this bodes well for Samsung.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset powering this phone has two prime CPU cores running at 4.19GHz and six mid-cores at 2.90GHz. It appears to be the special “For Galaxy” version exclusive to Samsung. The standard version is expected to be clocked at 4.09GHz and 2.78GHz, respectively. Qualcomm is using its custom Oryon CPU cores on the new chip.

The upcoming Qualcomm processor also brings massive GPU and NPU improvements, with rumors hinting at a dedicated Low Power Artificial Intelligence (LPAI) subsystem for AI processing. While this Geekbench listing only shows 12GB RAM, the Galaxy S25 Ultra should also offer a 16GB RAM variant. Coupled with a much improved One UI 7.1 software, Samsung may be setting out to redefine the flagship Android experience.
