Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 update is now widely available for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series in the US. The rollout began a few days back and has gradually reached carrier-locked and unlocked units on all networks nationwide. The update brings a plethora of new features and enhancements.

One UI 6.1.1 is rolling out widely to the US Galaxy S23, Fold 5, and others

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update (the software version remains One UI 6.1 for the S series but changes to One UI 6.1.1 for the Z series and tablets) to eligible devices early this month. The Galaxy S24 series received the update first, followed by the Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Fold 5, Flip 5, and Tab S9 series.

A few days ago, Samsung released One UI 6.1.1 for the US versions of these devices. We can now confirm a wide rollout of the update across the nation. The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are receiving the new One UI version with the build number CXH7 (last four digits), while it is CXH8 for the S23 FE. The new build number for the Fold 5 is F946USQU4DXH7 and the Flip 5 is F731USQU4DXH9.

This update contains new AI tools, camera enhancements, gallery improvements, and a host of other features that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in July. Some advanced AI features aren’t compatible with older devices. For example, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Fold 5 miss out on Photo Ambient Wallpaper. Most of the goodies make it to all of these phones and tablets, though.

One UI 6.1.1 also seems to have introduced a camera bug to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Zoom photos between 16x and 19.9x magnification produce weird ghosting effects around the edges. Samsung has taken note of the issue and working on a fix. Hopefully, the fix will arrive with the September security patch. The latest update keeps the US users on the August patch, though it brought the newer patch in some markets.
