Galaxy S23 Ultra & Fold 5 Get One UI 6.1.1, Here’s What’s Missing

Samsung recently rolled out the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 5 globally, introducing a powerful array of Galaxy AI features. Wondering if you missed out on anything compared to the S24 Ultra? Well, yes, but don’t worry — it’s nothing major. The S23 Ultra and Fold 5 received all the same One UI 6.1.1 goodies, except for one small feature: Photo Ambient Wallpaper.

Galaxy S23 Ultra and Fold 5 don’t miss out on many One UI 6.1.1 features

One UI 6.1.1 is a massive update for Galaxy devices, particularly the last two flagship lineups. With this update. Samsung brings new AI features, camera enhancements, Gallery upgrades, and tons of other goodies introduced on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 to other compatible devices. As usual, some advanced AI features are limited to newer phones with a more powerful processor, though others also have plenty to look forward to.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are Samsung’s most powerful phones from 2023. They were expected to receive the majority of One UI 6.1.1 AI goodies and the company didn’t disappoint. Upon updating the two phones, we noticed that they picked up pretty much the same set of features as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The only thing missing was the Photo Ambient Wallpaper in the Galaxy AI section in Settings.

Photo Ambient Wallpaper uses AI to dynamically adjust your wallpaper based on the time and weather. The feature uses location info from the Weather app to add weather effects to the wallpaper. If it’s raining outside, you’ll see animations simulating rain, and so on. It also adjusts the wallpaper colors to reflect the time of the day. To use this feature, go to Settings > Wallpaper and style > Change wallpapers > scroll down and select Photo ambient under the Create with AI section. The feature works best with outdoor photos. The AI effects may take a while to show up.
