Galaxy S25’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Hits Geekbench w/ Stellar Scores

by | Sep 11, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

While there’s still a chance of the Exynos 2500 powering the Galaxy S25 in some regions, it’s almost certain that the new Samsung flagship will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 variant. The upcoming Qualcomm processor is shaping up to be a true powerhouse, packed with upgrades and improvements. It is said to outperform the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s A18 Pro in every aspect. A recent Geekbench listing further supports this claim.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 appears on Geekbench with impressive scores

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was recently tested with the OnePlus 13 on Geekbench v6.3. The chipset achieved impressive scores of 3,236 (single-core) and 10,049 (multi-core) on the platform. While the single-core score is still lower than the Apple A18 (3,409) — the A18 Pro’s rumored score is over 3,600 — the new Qualcomm chip outperformed the Apple silicon in multi-core performance (8,492 and 8,974 respectively).

This bodes well for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is expected to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 globally. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ may also feature the Qualcomm chip in the US, China, and a few other markets. The rest of the world could get the Exynos 2500 unless Samsung decides to not launch an Exynos variant. It is currently testing the deca-core chip. If not the Galaxy S25, the new Exynos could power the 2025 Galaxy foldables.

It’s worth noting that Samsung often uses a special, higher-clocked version of flagship Snapdragon chips in its products. This Geekbench run likely used the standard version. In that case, the Galaxy S25’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 should deliver higher CPU scores, with the single-core score closing the gap to the Apple silicon. On the chipset front, it’s looking pretty good for Samsung’s 2025 flagships, as well as the whole Android flagship space.

The Galaxy S25 lineup should also bring a host of other upgrades, including new cameras. The Ultra model is said to offer “significantly improved” videography capabilities. Samsung will unveil the phones in early 2025. If you plan to buy any of the three models, you might want to check out our mystery box program.
