True to its words, Samsung has released the One UI 6.1.1-based update for the Galaxy S24 series in the US. The big feature release was supposed to arrive on Monday, September 9, and it has — very early in the day. The update should soon be available in Europe and gradually expand to other regions.

Samsung rolls out One UI 6.1.1 update for Galaxy S24 in the US

Last week, Samsung released the One UI 6.1.1-based One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in its home country, South Korea. The company said it will expand the coverage to the US and Europe on September 9, and slowly make it a global rollout. While we don’t have any reports of its availability in the US as of this writing, we can confirm that the update is rolling out in the US.

One UI 6.1.1 is initially available for carrier-locked units on T-Mobile’s network. However, it should be just a matter of time before the update is available across all carriers, also covering factory-unlocked units. The US Galaxy S24 models are getting the same firmware version as the Korean models (AXH7). The OTA (over the air) download file also has a similar size — around 2.8GB for the Ultra model.

However, while the Korean users received the latest, September 2024 security patch, Samsung is keeping the US users on the August patch. It isn’t a big deal, though. After all, the update is more about new features and enhancements than security fixes. It brings tons of goodies to your Galaxy S24. The September security patch with nearly 70 vulnerability fixes should be available stateside later this month.

Samsung will also update the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9, and several other devices to One UI 6.1.1 starting later this week. Some of the new Galaxy AI features and camera enhancements introduced on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 may not be compatible with older models, though. If you are using a supported device (see the full list here), watch out for an update in the coming days.
