Galaxy S20 FE, M23 & More Grab Samsung’s August Update

by | Aug 27, 2024 | News, Updates

Before the month wraps up, Samsung is working swiftly to roll out the August security patch to as many Galaxy devices as possible. The Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy M23, and Galaxy F23 are the latest to receive this update. The company has already updated dozens of other models, with the rollout expanding to more markets recently.

Samsung’s August security update reaches more Galaxy devices

The August SMR for Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy smartphones and tablets contains 50 vulnerability fixes. These include at least two critical flaws potentially allowing threat actors to access your device remotely. It’s important to install this update as early as possible to stay safe from these vulnerabilities.

To that end, Samsung has been rolling out the new security patch to eligible devices since early this month. The latest SMR has already reached all flagship phones and foldables launched since 2021 in most markets. The company has also updated several budget and mid-range phones, as well as a bunch of tablets across various segments.

The Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy M23, and Galaxy F23 are the latest to receive this update. The Fan Edition phone is receiving the update in Europe with the firmware build number G781BXXSDHXH2. The August SMR for the F series phone is available in India with the build number E236BXXS7EXH1, while that for the M series model is available in Brazil with the build number M236BXXS7EXG2.

The rollout began recently and is currently limited to select markets. However, it shouldn’t be long before Samsung releases the new SMR for these devices globally. The company will continue to roll out the August security update to more Galaxy devices in the coming days, even into September. We will keep you posted accordingly.

As usual, you will receive a notification when a new software update is available for your Galaxy smartphone or tablet. You can also manually check for updates anytime. Open the Settings app, go to the Software update menu, and tap Download and install. If an update is available, you will be prompted to download it. If not, wait a few days and check again.
