Samsung recently rolled out the sixth One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy S24 series, introducing Audio Eraser and more new features. This release brings the 2024 flagships closer to the experience offered by the Galaxy S25 lineup. However, one notable feature — Now Brief — has remained elusive. It looked like Samsung would keep it exclusive to the latest models, but there’s a new twist to the tale.
Galaxy S24’s One UI 7 Beta 6 has traces of Now Brief
Now Brief, an AI-powered feature that provides a daily summary of tasks, news, weather, and traffic conditions on the lock screen, was introduced with One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung said that the feature requires a powerful NPU to process personal data and provide real-time updates based on your activities and the time of the day. Its comments suggested that Now Brief will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S25 and newer flagships.
As the time passed, that looked like happening more than ever. Samsung rolled out multiple One UI 7 beta builds to the Galaxy S24, but Now Brief never made the cut. However, recent findings suggest it is actually included in the latest One UI 7 beta — just hidden from plain sight. X user @MEMETCAN88 discovered that an old hack, previously used to access hidden functions, can reveal Now Brief within the beta.
We checked on a Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 7 Beta 6 and found traces of Now Brief. We could see the intro page and manage the content we’d like to see on our lock screen. However, the feature remains disabled, so it doesn’t actually work. This brings us to the main question: Does Samsung plan to roll out Now Brief to the Galaxy S24 with the stable One UI 7 update next week?
A hidden feature waiting for the final push button?
To be honest with you, this doesn’t look like a confirmation. The traces of Now Brief found in One UI 7 Beta 6 originate from other apps like Routine and Samsung Health, which have deeper Now Brief integration. There’s no evidence of the feature being actually baked into the Galaxy S24’s software. We believe that the 2024 flagships can run it, but maybe Samsung doesn’t want to offer it to older models.
We’ll be happy if Samsung surprises us with Now Brief for the Galaxy S24 next week. The One UI 7 rollout begins on April 7, though the update may not reach the US until April 10. If that happens, it could pave the way for other 2024 flagships, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Tab S10 series, to receive the feature as well.
