Apple has long been rumored to be working on a foldable device, but it’s not coming anytime soon. According to reports, it could launch between late 2026 and 2027, which is still a long wait. Of course, when a foldable iPhone does arrive, it will go head-to-head with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. By then, we may see the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or 9 on the market. Things are bound to get interesting, with Samsung—the king of foldables—facing off against Apple once again. The Samsung-Apple rivalry is as legendary as ever, and it’s only set to heat up.

One major concern with Apple’s foldable iPhone? It won’t come cheap. But you probably saw that coming. An industry analyst recently shared foldable iPhone’s price, and it may include Apple tax.
Industry analyst Tim Long (via MacRumors) shared in an investor note with Barclays that Apple’s foldable iPhone’s price could start at around $2,300 in the U.S. For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are priced at $1,199, $1,299, and $1,899, respectively. Of course, these are retail prices, and discounts often bring them down. But $2,300 is still $400 more than the current Z Fold 6. Even factoring in inflation for a 2027 release, that price would be hard to justify. Of course, unless Apple surprises us with a tri-fold design at launch.
Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts a price range between $2,000 and $2,500 for the foldable iPhone. It’s rumored to feature a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer display, two rear cameras, a front camera, a Touch ID power button, and a high-density battery. When unfolded, it could be as thin as 4.5mm and 9–9.5mm when folded.
It’ll be interesting to see how Apple positions the foldable iPhone, and whether the price can drop below $2,000. That would make it a more direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold series and a fairer comparison overall.
