The Galaxy S25 series is finally out of the bag, but it hasnโt hit store shelves just yet. While pre-orders are live, shipping hasnโt kicked off. Thatโs exactly why youโll want to dig into what Samsung didnโt spill about the Galaxy S25 series, especially its battery life. On paper, Samsung hasnโt budged an inch to the Galaxy S25 Ultraโs battery capacity. Itโs still the same 5,000mAh as the Galaxy S24 Ultraโs. But are there any battery upgrades with the latest flagship? Well, we might have an answer to that.
YouTuber pits Galaxy S25 Ultra against S24 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max in battery battle
YouTuber Benjamin Aboagye put the Galaxy S25 Ultra to the test against two Galaxy S24 Ultra models (old and new) and the iPhone 16 Pro Max to see how they stack up in the ultimate battery battle. Benjamin livestreamed the performance of these devices for nearly eight hours. While I wonโt ask you to sit through the entire video, show appreciation to him for the effort he put in.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra clinched second place in the showdown, beating both the new and old Galaxy S24 Ultra units. However, Apple took the crown, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max winning the battery battle. But for me, the most important aspect was that even though Samsung hasnโt upped the battery capacity, itโs still an upgrade with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Thatโs something appreciable, because what good is any phone without a decent battery backup? To me, it seems Samsung has done a good job optimizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor.
In another test, Aboagye first discovered that the Galaxy S25 Ultra can charge from 0% to 70% in just 30 minutes, courtesy of its 45W wired fast charging. Over the course of the test, it reached a full charge in just 57 minutes, barely shy of the one-hour mark. As for wireless charging, weโre still waiting to see how it performs with the Qi2 Ready accessory, but weโll get that once we get our review units.
