Samsung has officially launched its Galaxy S25 flagships. The Galaxy S25 Ultra leads the line and is the most expensive of the lot, while the S25 and S25+ offer cutting-edge features at more accessible price points. With sleeker designs, improved performance, and several other meaningful upgrades, the latter models cater to a broad range of users.
Galaxy S25 is a compact yet powerful package
The Galaxy S25 is a compact flagship smartphone without many compromises. You get a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate, Vision Booster, and adaptive color tone. The screen offers 2,600 nits of peak brightness and comes with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Samsung uses the same glass panel on the back, while the frame is made of Armor Aluminum. The device is IP68-rate for dust and water resistance.
The Plus model is substantially bigger, offering a 6.7-inch screen with a higher, QHD+ resolution. A QHD+ resolution means the phone supports Samsung’s ProScaler image processing technology for enhanced quality. The rest of the display specs and build quality remain unchanged from the base Galaxy S25. The Galaxy S25+ essentially gives you the same screen experience as the Ultra, but without S Pen support.
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ also share the chipset with the Ultra model. We are talking about an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with a peak speed of 4.47GHz. The 3nm Qualcomm chip delivers exceptional performance and efficiency gains, with the chipmaker focusing heavily on AI processing. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Speaking of AI, Samsung ships the Galaxy S25 lineup with Android 15-based One UI 7, which brings several new AI tools, including Audio Eraser. Deeper Gemini integration — now available on the side button — and other AI-powered features like Now Brief allow for a more personalized Galaxy experience. Samsung promises “a breakthrough in natural language understanding, making everyday interactions easier.”
Unchanged camera setup, battery, and charging
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ keep the camera setup, battery capacity, and charging speed unchanged from their respective predecessors. The phones feature a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. On the front, you get a 12MP selfie camera. Processor improvements and enhanced software algorithms with AI features should help capture better photos and videos.
Coming to the battery capacity, the Galaxy S25 packs a 4,000mAh battery while the Plus has a 4,900mAh unit. The former supports 25W wired charging and the latter supports 45W wired charging. While we can understand Samsung keeping the battery capacity unchanged — the devices are slimmer and lighter — the charging speed feels a bit slow, particularly for the base model. Wireless charging is capped at 15W, while Qi2 support requires a compatible case.
Price and availability
Other highlights include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, stereo speakers, and an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S25 starts at $799, while the S25+ begins at $999. The devices come in Icy Blue, Mint, Navy, Silver Shadow, Blue Black, Coral Red, and Pink Gold colors. Samsung sells the latter three colors exclusively through its official website. These shades aren’t available elsewhere.
Pre-orders are now live, with official sales starting on February 7. The devices are eligible for seven years of OS and security updates.
