Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Ultra. The device went official alongside the Galaxy S25 and S25+ at the Unpacked event in San Jose, USA, earlier today. As the crown jewel of Samsung’s 2025 flagship lineup, the Ultra boasts cutting-edge technology and features designed to redefine the smartphone experience.
The wait is finally over, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is now official
The Galaxy S25 Ultra sports a refined design with a slimmer and narrower profile and a lighter build. It features a massive 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which is an LTPO panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and 2,600 nits of peak brightness. Samsung’s ProScaler technology offers sharper visuals and more vibrant colors for an unmatched viewing experience, with the company touting a 40% boost in image quality. The S Pen lacks Bluetooth support, so no Air Actions or remote gestures.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on a 3nm process. Samsung uses an overclocked version operating at a whopping 4.47GHz, ensuring smooth handling of the heaviest tasks. The phone boasts 12GB and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
The camera system remains largely unchanged, with only one of the five cameras getting a new sensor. The 12MP ultrawide lens has been upgraded to a 50MP unit. The 200MP primary shooter, 50MP 5x xoom camera, 10MP 3x zoom camera, and 12MP selfie camera carry over unchanged. We still expect improvements in image quality thanks to the new chipset and enhanced processing, coupled with new camera features.
Deeper AI integration with several new tools
Last year with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung kicked off a new era of mobile AI technology. It doubled down on its efforts with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new model debuted several new AI tools, including Audio Eraser and Writing Assist. Samsung also offers Genimi integration into many first-party apps. Now Brief, a personalized information hub on the lock screen, is another notable AI feature on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung’s software enhancements and the efficient chip should also help deliver a longer battery life, even though the Galaxy S25 Ultra packs the same 5,000mAh battery. The charging speed also remains unchanged at 45W (wired) and 15W (wireless). Other highlights include a stronger build with a titanium frame and Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 protection on the front and back, paired with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. You also get Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
